What is National High Five Day?

National High Five Day is the reason that strangers have been high-fiving you in the streets every year on the third Thursday in April.

Origins

NH5D was started in 2002 at the University of Virginia. A group of students set up shop on the main quad of the campus and gave out high-fives and lemonade.

In the news....

NH5D has been featured on The Today Show, SportsCenter, ESPN the Magazine, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, Inside the NBA on TNT, and was a global trending topic on Twitter in 2012.

National High Five Project is a recognized, tax-deductible 501(c)3 charity by the IRS.
